The credible starting point for medical cannabis in NZ
mc.nz exists to make one thing simple: helping New Zealanders understand whether medicinal cannabis might be right for them — and how to access it properly, through a registered doctor.
What we do
We translate the New Zealand Medicinal Cannabis Scheme into plain English: the law, the science, the conditions people ask about, and the step-by-step pathway to a prescription. When you're ready, we help connect you with a registered NZ clinic.
What we don't do
We do not sell, supply, or promote the sale of cannabis. We don't give medical advice or make therapeutic guarantees. We are not a recreational cannabis resource — medicinal use on prescription is legal in New Zealand, but recreational use is not, and we keep that line clear in everything we publish.
Our editorial standards
- Plain language, with realistic expectations — including when cannabis may not help.
- Clear labelling of older archive articles that predate the 2020 scheme.
- Transparent disclosure of any clinic referral, listing, or affiliate relationships.
- A “talk to a registered doctor” next step on every clinical topic.
Independence
mc.nz is editorially independent and strictly medical and trust-focused. Our value to patients is precisely that we sit at the clinical, doctor's-office end of the spectrum — calm, careful and honest.
