Connect with a registered NZ prescriber

Any registered New Zealand doctor can prescribe most medicinal-cannabis products. Below is a neutral, factual directory of known NZ clinics, telehealth services and dispensing pharmacies. Listings are not endorsements, and we don't promote any product.

Who can prescribe

Any NZ-registered medical practitioner, including GPs, can prescribe products verified to the minimum quality standard — no specialist sign-off needed for most products.

CBD products

CBD products (CBD ≥98% of cannabinoids, THC and specified substances ≤2%) are prescription medicines but NOT controlled drugs. Any indication; up to a 3-month supply.

THC products

THC-containing products are controlled drugs, with a maximum 1-month supply per prescription.

Approved medicines

Only two cannabis medicines are fully Medsafe-approved: Sativex (THC + CBD) and Epidyolex (CBD). Everything else is prescribed as a verified-but-unapproved product.

Funding

Pharmac generally does not fund medicinal cannabis. Patients usually pay the full cost, with rare exceptions via NPPA, ACC or MSD.

Choosing a clinic

There's no central booking service in NZ — you contact a clinic directly. Browse the options here, then reach out to the one that fits your needs and budget. The clinic (not mc.nz) assesses you and makes every clinical decision.

  1. Compare the clinics and telehealth services listed.
  2. Check the conditions they treat, consult fees and how to book.
  3. Contact your chosen clinic directly to arrange an assessment.
